WHAT TO EXPECT

Therapy works best when the therapeutic relationship is strong; therefore making sure we are the right fit is highly important. Our phone consultation and first session are great places for you to assess this by addressing issues and concerns you have, getting to know the ways we can best support you and your goals, and checking in with your own comfort and readiness.


Internal family systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a non-pathologizing and empowering therapy model. IFS is an integrative model seeking to connect and build internal relationships to all the parts of ourselves. IFS will help you build access to your core Self (authentic self, higher self, grounded-wise self etc) from which you can bring care and curiosity to parts (which may present as thoughts, beliefs, body sensations/illness, feelings, memories, inner child, protectors, and images).

IFS often can feel like a transformative inner parenting model that allows for a sense of freedom from shame, blame and criticism.

We do this by identifying and getting to know parts; trauma, limiting patterns, ​and associated negative beliefs which are seen and cared for, allowing for us to unburden them from any extreme role they have taken on. Simultaneously, building and helping you to access a compassionate, empowered and calm core Self from which you may lead your unique and precious life. This Self-to-Part relationship increases a sense of connection, harmony, and freedom in your life.


SOMATIC THERAPY

Somatic psychotherapy is an integrative model of healing that honors the connection between our body, mind, and spirit.

Including somatic work into psychotherapy can look like anything from breathing exercises in moments of overwhelm to exploratory movement, or embodied & imaginal exercises. All of these offer an opportunity to bring you more in touch with your embodied and innate wisdom.

We are born into experiencing the world and relationships through our body. We grab with our hands, we kick off things we don’t like, we explore and connect with our whole body.

Many of us have experienced a cut-off with our body at some point, either because of trauma or learned through society/family of origin. Because of this disconnection, we don’t get to live a truly full and embodied life. When we’re able to reclaim our embodied experience a life filled with curiosity, insight, personal agency, and meaning is abundantly possible.

Ancestral healing

Empirical studies now show that multigenerational family trauma and experiences shape our genes and create certain pathways in our brains and bodies. This impacts the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects of our identity.

Ancestral Healing allows freedom from limiting beliefs, impact from trauma, and messages that were passed down a family line - whether consciously or not. 

Through ancestral healing we bring conscious awareness to the beliefs, burdens, and memories that have been passed down. Sometimes this is a vague sense of something, while other times we have specific stories or messages that directly live in us from our ancestors. Together we will witness and release what was passed down; as well as bring forward the unique gifts and traits from family lines that were pushed away due to trauma or limitations. This work is powerful, it is yours to have, and creates healing not only for you but for your family and community.
